Hi,

Configuration: 1TB Raid 1 internally, 1TB external USB

If I setup synchronization instead backup to an external device, does it means that I could use this external  (synchronized) volume directly inside the NAS if both of the two internal disks would be damaged?

    Hi @frameworker
Synchronization is such as backup way let the target folder is the same as source folder, so yes, you can use the external volume while both internal disks were damaged.
But you have to know the synchronization is single way backup, the target (external disk) content would not synchronize back to internal volume, so suggest you to add/modify file into internal volume, but if you add somethiing new into internal volume, and the volume damaged before synchronization, then the data will lose.
