Failed to obtain IP

I have an Zyxel AP and am trying to connect to it. At first I had created my own SSID's, but these did not work, so tried again by leaving everything as is. The default SSID is Zyxel with pw 12345678, when connecting it goes as far as "obtaining IP address" after a while it fails and gives error "IP configuration failed".

Any ideas what could be wrong?  DHCP is on.

    What is the model name and firmware version of your Zyxel AP?
    Can you also provide your network topology?

    Most AP, it hasn't DHCP server services. All IP will assign from upper layer router.
