                    Hi,
I have an 8 TB HD into my NAS542 and the space is almost finished. I want use other two 8TB HDD and create a RAID 5.
The questions are: when i'll create the RAID, data on my first disk, will lost?
Is the RAID5 the best solution to have the maximum capacity available with 3 HDD and the possibility to change one broken HD?
Thanks
Fabio

            Hi Fabio,it depends.
I just made the experience (with Raid1 > Raid5): If you have volume and not a volume in a disk group, it should work without data loss.

If one disk fails in Raid 5, no data loss can happen.
If two or more disks fails, you can get data loss.
The space of RAID 5 with 3 X 8 TB disk.
The space of RAID 5 with 4 X 8 TB disk.
