When I connect a large (GPT) disk to the USB port the File Browser fails to recognize any data. Am I missing something?

Final word: Repartitioned the Seagate to a single exFAT and all is good.0

How large is your disk size? If it is large, it require a external power supply, I do not think the NAS could offer enough power to the disk.0

I've had trouble with several 2-3 TB 3.5" SATA drives with 12V external power provided to the USB adapter. A USB-powered 5TB 2.5" portable drive is again recognized, but not read.

When you feel comfortable on the command line you can login over ssh, and run 'dmesg' to see if the kernel has any useful information about that disk.

Hmmm. Running "ssh admin@(ipaddress)" from the Win terminal I get "connection refused" rather than a PW request. Probably need to know the proper syntax? Not exactly a sophisticate here.

To use SSH , you need to enable it on the NAS0

I think this is the relevant part of what I get from dmesg:[ 742.826812] usb 2-1.3: New USB device found, idVendor=0bc2, idProduct=ab9a[ 742.833708] usb 2-1.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=2, Product=3, SerialNumber=1

That dmesg output looks healthy to me. It recognizes the partition table, and finds 2 partitions. The first one is mounted, and yields a warning about utf8 filenames. Can't say if the second is mounted. According to your screenshot it knows the filesystem (exfat), but it doesn't know the size, which suggests that it's not mounted.I remember that long ago there was a limit on NTFS filesystem size on a ZyXEL NAS, but I can't remember what caused it.Are all partitions of a multi partition smaller disk mounted?0

I've been able to see files on single-partition disks smaller than 1TB. Just now was able to read and write to a 2TB single NTFS partition using my new SATA to USB connector. Don't have a 3TB to test at the moment. Hmm. Maybe the old connector was part of the problem. Seagate shipped the 5TB portable disk with a 200MB System portion I've never tried to read and a second exFAT partition that Windows loads easily. Is exFAT the problem?
