Good day all,

Hoping some one can help. Recently I was trying to port forward so that my kid could host a personal blog / website on our Synology DS220+ NAS, located on our zyxel EMG2926 router at home. During the process, I accidentally rerouted access to the router dashboard (192.168.0.1) to the NAS (192.168.0.103), and can’t figure out how to get back to the router dashboard. 😞

Now when I try to access my dashboard, I get this:

and when i try to access my NAS from home, I get this (while the NAS is powered on):

and this when is disconnected:

I am, however, able to access the NAS from outside my network:

I tried all the troubleshooting recommendations in the router manual, including a master reset of the router, but I’m still getting all the messages above.

Any advice on how to regain access to the router dashboard would be greatly appreciated! Thx 😉

    Hello DaveHS,

Looking at the draft user guide at https://fccid.io/pdf.php?id=2197013 for the EMG2926 it has that to do a factory reset, the router has to be powered on and the reset button pressed for more than 5 seconds.

    Is this what you tried?

I hope that this is helpful.

Yes, this is what I tried (Step 27.3 & 27.5), but yet it still recognizes .103 as the main end.

    Thanks

    Thanks DaveHS

I have downloaded the user guide from

https://videotron.com/sites/default/files/2022-01/user-guide-zyxel-router-new-generation.pdf and the reset instructions are in 1.5 and 1.5.1 that I was thinking about.

Are you able to remember and say what firmware version you are running please?

Does this Videotron help page help, and are you able to use the Helix app?

    Thanks Tony,

Yeah, I tried all the reset instructions. I even tried hard resets (ie: unplugging & hitting reset button) and still leads me to the same message.

For the record, I only have cable internet, no cable tv "per say". I even tried to reset the mini-cable modem (by unplugging it for a minute - I couldn't find a reset pin hole), but still getting nowhere.

Nothing seems to work to reset it. Still getting this message from inside the network:

To be clear, the internet does actually work. I am able to access websites, cast to my tv from streaming webstites, etc. In fact, as previously said, when I turn my wifi "off" on my phone, I am still able to access my kid's website, which resides on my NAS, connected to the router (at 192.168.0.103), from an outside network (my cell data network).

    As to the firmware question:

Thank you all for your continued attention, and Tony for your attempts to help.

    Respects.

    You are welcome @DaveHS

I don't know how deep and technical you want to get into this, but https://www.rodneybeede.com/security/tinkering-with-isp-autogenpassword-zyxel-emg2926-q10a-wifi-router.html and https://blog.incloudus.com/2017/flasher-routeur-zyxel-emg2926-q10a-de-chez-videotron/ has some information about how you could replace the firmware with OpenWRT firmware.

Which would have the side effect of getting you back into your router, but with different firmware to the Videotron version, but the Zyxel EMG2926 firmware is based on OpenWRT anyway.

I hope that this is helpful, at your own risk.

    Kind regards,

    Tony
