How to reflash the last firmware when the previous failed

Hello,
I would like to know if it's possible to reflash the last firmware when the NAS542 is unreachable.
It is possible that the last flash was completed incorrectly although I am used to doing this.
Thank in advance for your help
Kind regards

Hi,
I have done a rescuedisk.
I have used the NAS540 rescuedisk with the firmware of the NAS542.
It works perfectly.
My NAS is reachable again.
Thanks for your help.

Depends. When the kernel still boots (which doesn't necessarily gives a reachable NAS) you can use a RescueStick. I don't have one for the 542, but the stick for the 540 should also work, when you exchange the .bin file by one from a 542, and put it's md5 sum in the appropriate file.
But if the kernel still boots, a factory reset might also do the trick. Push the reset button, and keep it pushed until the box has beeped three times. (+/- 20 seconds). If it beeps, the kernel is active.
When the kernel doesn't boot, it becomes more complicated. You'll need serial access to revive the box.

Thanks a lot.
If I do this or if I do a factory reset, will I lose all my data?

Neither will destroy your data. A factory reset deletes the configuration, which means you'll have to reapply users and shares. (The directories are still there, but you'll have to 'promote' them to share).
A rescue stick only flashes firmware, and leaves everything else as-is.
