4G LTE7490-M904 vs 5G NR7101 - 4G performance & Scan Tower Functions & Differences
Hello,
I have some questions please, as looking to purchase one of these.
Q1: is the 4G performance identical in both devices. Or is the 4G better in the dedicated LTE7490-M904 4G device?
Q2: in the LTE7490-M904 is there an option to Scan towers/masts (I can see this function is available in the NR7101 models manual, but not in the LTE7490-M904 models manual?
Q3: are there any other differences I should be aware of between the two models, apart from the fact one is 5G and the other 4G ? Cell/Mast tower lock / Band lock etc etc.
Thank you very much for your input on this. Mark.

Hello1
I own both devices and in my opinion the 7490 definitely has better 4G.
7101 has 6 antennas but 2 of them focus mostly on high bands above 2700 mhz.
I have replaced one of the antennas on my 7101 with an external antenna and will be replacing the other 2 in a few weeks.
In my area there are only B3, B7, B8, B20, B28 and n28.
The antennas in the 7101 are thus not quite optimal for me in the lower bands.
If you don't think you will get 5G on high band in the near future, I would advise you to use 7490 which is also cheaper.I have the latest software in my 7490. Note that the top 2 pictures are 7490 and the bottom one with the antenna specs is NR7101.

You are right, no Scan.😖
I saw this yesterday!
Lte7490 antenna specs. Not good @ low bands.
NR 7101 peak up to 5 gain @ low bands but who knows where that peak is?
Could be @ 900 or 600....…

thank you for your help.
regarding Q2.
Can you scan the cells then select them in the list, or do you have to add them manually?
Is this the sane on both 4G & 5G? I thought i saw the 7101 where it can scan and you select the masts/cell.
would you be able to show ne a screen grab of the same page on the 7101 please?
would you check for me please?0 -
It is exactly the same as NR7101.
You scan and fill in manually each cell.
I'm not @ home now so i can't show 7101 until tomorrow.
I'm checking the ice 🥶 on the lake near my cabin and i'm going to sleep up here for the first time this year.🙂
Welcome to northern Sweden.😅

Thank you Selberg. Very helpful. Hope you had a lovely day by the lake yesterday.
One last question, does the LTE7490 have a PCI scan page? I can’t see it in any of your photos
