Help with MetRepository and entware-ng for smb3 on NSA325v2
I’m trying to follow Mijzelf’s instructions on upgrading installing MetaRepository then Entware-ng to get smb3 working on this old NAS but I’m running into a number of problems some probably due to my lack of understanding of the instruction and some possibly due to the state of the NAS firmware (V4.81AALS.1)
Firstly SSH will not stay enabled in the web interface and ssh connection via putty fails. I can connect via telnet.
When I do this as admin there is no zy-pkgs directory. I have tried creating the directory and putting the web_prefix file in that directory. The content of the file is “
http://zyxel.diskstation.eu/Users/Mijzelf/zypkg-repo
” is that correct? It just seems to point to Mijzelf’s instructions which seem strange. There is no trace of MetaRepository on the package web page after retrieving list from internet.
Can anyone help me get MetaRepository installed and ssh working before I am reluctantly forced to retire this NAS?

Thanks, the key was to use samba as the zy-pkgs directory was not visible in /admin from a ls / shell command.
entware next!

You shouldn't need shell access. Everything can be done through samba. Provided you have samba access, of course.
The content of the file is
There should be a / at the end. In the forum I can't see that. That doesn't mean it isn't in the text you posted.
The firmware will (in your case) add 'NSA325-v2/4.80/zypkg/' to it, and treat that as repository. Which means it will try to download the repo listing
You can try to download that in your shell, to see if there is a network problem:
wget http://zyxel.diskstation.eu/Users/Mijzelf/zypkg-repo/NSA325-v2/4.80/zypkg/ZYPKG_INFO.tgz

All working now except that disks do not suspend after set period of inactivity. It seems that the simlink was created correctly on instalation.
Is there anything I can try to get the disks to suspend as set on the web interface?
~ # ls -l /opt/var
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Aug 10 14:15 lock -> /var/lock
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Aug 11 14:28 log
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Aug 11 14:28 nmbd
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Aug 10 14:12 opkg-lists
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Aug 11 14:28 run0 -
The disk does not suspend, or it's awaked regularly? In the first case there is something permanently accessing the disk. In the second case there are events which causes disk access. Running 'top' can tell which processes are active. In 'Tweaks' there is a tool 'Disk Monitor', which can tell which process wakes up the disk. Sort of.

I disabled a few demons with Tweaks and it seems fine now. Still cant access the admin folder through windows explorer or share browser but not really needed at this point.
Thanks again
