How to get the "migrate" button in NSA320?

The NSA320 allowed me to create a new JBOD volume on the new 4TB disk #1.

I have created a new JBOD volume, copied over all the files from the "degraded" RAID 1 from the old disk #2 and then removed the old "degraded" RAID 1 disk #2.

The User Guide says that installing a new disk along a single JBOD volume will allow to "migrate" the JBOD volume to a RAID 1 volume. However, upon powering up the expected "migrate" volume never showed up.

The new disk #2 is visible and I could create a new JBOD volume or extend the existing one.

But this is not what I need.

Any idea how to get the system to "migrate" the existing JBOD plus the new disk #2 to a RAD 1 configuration?

Any tricks to make the "migrate" button show up?

Thanks,

Alex

It appears that both the new and old disks are not recognized after rebooting the NAS. This issue could occur if the user accidentally removed a disk while the NAS was powered on, which might lead to bad sectors on the hard drive.

Do you ensure that the NAS is completely powered off before handling any disks. While it's unclear if that would cause bad sectors, try the following: power off the NAS, carefully re-seat the old disk, then power it back on and check if it gets recognized.

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I did shutdown the NAS and disconnected the power every time I have removed and inserted a disk.

In the end I have offloaded all the data from the remaining old disk 2 to an external drive, then inserted the two new disks, and created at new RAID 1 volume.

The data was then copied back from an external disk to the new RAID 1 volume.

It is just a pain to waste all this time when the replacement of the RAID disks was supposed to be much less painless, according to the user guide.

    Thanks for your feedback anyways.
