Hello,

I live in area where I am fully covered by 4G LTE and 5G NSA.
My router FWA510 connects to both of them, but after a while it disconnects from the 5G and I have to go in the router configuration web page, Network Settings-mobile broadband-band settings and change to any value and then go back to 5G-NSA/4G autoswitch to restore 5G connectivity. Then I have both LTE and 5G excellent signal quality. It is a bit annoying to restore this every day or once every other day. Maybe it could be a fix in the next firmware upgrade?

Accepted Solution

I managed to fix it by selecting autoswitch NSA-5G/4G and now it always stays on NSA-5G.

If I set to 5G-SA/NSA - 5G/4G it fails back only to 4G.

    Hi there,

To troubleshoot the issue, go to Network Setting > Broadband > Cellular Band > Preferred Access Technology and select NR5G-SA / NR5G-NSA / 4G (Auto Switch). Then check if the issue is resolved.

If the problem persists, you can set up a daily reboot schedule during a time when there is minimal service impact. To configure this, go to Nebula > Site-wide > Devices > Mobile Router > Maintenance

Maybe your ISP detects your idle and disconnects you?

I do not think a reboot is the solution

No, ISP does not disconnect me. It's just that suddenly it "falls" back to LTE. If I manually change the Band to anything and then back to autoswitch, it sets the 5G back. Tried also with another router from different brand and it stays on 5G all the time...

I have the exact issue with my FWA510 with excellen 5G NSA signal. Honestly, this product is a bit of a pain. The UI is unproffesional, maybe i am too spoiled, most of our HW is Ubiquiti. I have tried all available firmwares, the same thing happens, the router switches back to 4G and the speed is terrible 20 Mbit/s DL 20 Mbit/s UL. Other LTE devices on the same locations achieve on LTE >200 Mbit/s DL …

The FWA510 doesn't even try to re-connect to 5G. I'll probably returnt the device and get a different product (not from ZYXEL).

I have changed the Cellular Band Settings from Auto to Manual, this seems to stablize the connection now for 20 hours.

    Hi @lordhenry666 , @Norbak ,

You can also check which 5G bands are supported by your ISP and switch from Band Auto Selection to the manually supported band.

If the 5G connection is still lost after making this change, please provide your remote access information (AnyDesk/TeamViewer) and your availability. We'd like to access your FWA510 directly to collect cellular-related logs for analysis. Regarding the remote session, we can discuss the details via private message.
