Hello!!

I have the FWA710 Outdoor 5G router running in IP Passthrough mode, connecting to a DECO x50 mesh.

The router is running 5G SA and the signal is good (RSRP 72, RSRQ -2 SINR 24) but when I do a speed test the download speed reaches 500Mbps (+) for the first few seconds then drops (sometimes it drops to 10Mbps).

For comparison, another indoor router I was using (with external antenna) was reading 580 - 620Mbps with a much lower signal quality.

Does this point to a cable issue or a configuration issue?

What are the optimum settings for IP Passthrough mode?

    Hi nsmith,

    1. When testing the FWA710's speed, do you connect your end device directly to the FWA710 or do you connect via the Deco x50? I suppose you connect your device to the indoor router to perform a comparison test. The purpose of this question is to know whether the FWA710 is directly connected to the end device; if not, it's difficult to determine which part of the setup may cause of the problem.
    2. This case might require further troubleshooting, in which Zyxel engineers may need to remotely access your FWA710. I'd suggest to create a case at Zyxel support campus (Submit a request – Zyxel Support Campus EMEA).
    3. Using IP passthrough mode when the Deco x50 is connected to the FWA710 is fine, and while enabling IP passthrough mode, you'd only need to turn on the button to activate the feature; no other specific setting is required as an optimum setting.

    Regards,

    Bob
