Model Number as Link to Documentation

Under the Configuration Section for a devices details it has the Model Number of the device listed in Parens. If you could make that Model number into a link that leads to the Downloads page for the device (and thus the documentation) it would be very helpful.

    Hi @Ratsnackbar,

    Just to confirm my understanding — you’re suggesting adding a hyperlink to the download library page for the device model shown under the Configuration section of the Site-wide > Devices page in Nebula. The idea is that by clicking the model number, users can directly access the product’s documentation and firmware download page, correct?

    Yes, that's exactly what I'm suggesting. I'd make an easy way to get directly to your documentation for an administrator and it seems like it'd be easy to implement.

Any additional details on how this would improve your workflow or address pain points would be greatly appreciated.

    In many small business to enterprise environments it's not uncommon to have all of the documentation for a particular device downloaded and added into the On-Prem IT Asset Inventory Management system in use so that it's readily available offline. It's becomming more common to use Cloud Asset Management systems and in that case the assumption is that you will have an internet connection available even if its just via the technicians personal Cellular Hotspot. So in cloud asset management situations the best practice is often to simply add a link to the site to find the documentation for that device.

    Both of these practices are intended to assist a technician whom may be new to that particular set of devices to readily find the documentation, firmware, etc….

    But in both cases the technican would be required to refocus from the Nebula application to the Asset Management application, then lookup the device and then browse to where the links are kept.

    It would be far simpler for a handy link for that devices documentation to be provided in the nebula screen. It does not have to really by in that one screen I suggested. It just needs to be somewhere that is obviously in reference to the specific device model.

    The help system is of course handy in nebula but it's not always entirely up to date. For example I went looking for details of the H Series routers in the Nebula help system and was only able to find details of teh older Flex series. Of course I assume you will eventuall update the Nebula docs but having that link would be an alternative and quick way to get to the published documenation that may or may not necessarily be nebula specific.

    Hi @Ratsnackbar,

    In general, information related to Nebula devices should be accessible directly from the NCC Help page. We’ve reviewed both the previous NCC version (V19.00) and the current release (V19.10), and we can confirm that the documentation for both the USG FLEX H series and the USG FLEX series firewalls is already available in the Help page. They are listed together under the same Firewall category in the Help menu.

    In contrast, the documents available in the download library are intended for devices operating in standalone mode, and therefore focus on local GUI operation rather than Nebula.

    For quick access to the pages or information you need on Nebula, you may also try using the Intent feature and the Nebula AI chatbot in Nebula, which can help guide you to the relevant content.
