NSA EOL
Can you send me the link to download the latest firmware available for each of these NAS, NSA Zyxel? I need this for a client, who only has Zyxel hardware in their network.

I have an issue with the NSA221… invalid firmware,

I'm sorry. AFAIK I have no feedback that that file actually works. It comes from the ZyXEL FTP server, when it still served this. And it's a zip file, so it can hardly be corrupted, as it has an internal checksum.
Have you tried to reboot the box before upgrading? The install script for the 3xx takes a lot of memory, so it could be that the 221 also needs as much memory as possible.

Do you still have the FWs? I need the one to upgrade from v3.0 to leatest available for the NSA 220+ if you have those!
