Cannot login to admin console after restart (542)
Freshman Member
So my NAS has been working perfectly but I had to turn it off for a few seconds…So I did that by pressing the power button and then turning it on again with the button…
I thought everything looked and sounded normal when it started back up…When I put in the IP address for the NAS in Chrome the admin console shows up as usual but when I try to login it says the credentials are wrong…
I have both username and password saved in chrome…They are not wrong, I login with them almost on a daily basis.
I tried using the default (admin 1234) and it then tells me to update the password (not sure why it does that because I have not done a reset on the device(?)…Either way it does not work…I put in a new password, press apply and then it says the password is wrong again.
Would really appreciate some guidance if anyone knows what the issue might be.

I forgot to mention that my main volume is 100% full so maybe that had something to do with it?
It shouldn't. But I can't exclude it. Better move some content to another volume.
Right now everything seem to be back to normal except for the fact that 2 out of my 3 volumes (I have 1 volume for each disk) are no longer visible in file browser
That is probably the disabled shares I told you about. Go to the shares menu and re-enable the shares on the other volumes.

Tried the reset button on the back also and same thing…It asks me to chose a new password but when i hit apply it then says the new password is also wrong.
All lights on the NAS looks normal, disks sound normal…Very strange because it was working with no issues when i turned it off and then this started seconds later when powering up again.
Edit: Have tried it on 3 different browsers.

Reading this I wonder if your flash partition got corrupted. The user settings including the password file are stored on it, but during normal operation it uses a mirror in ram.
When you change the password, it will store it in flash again, and I don't know how it handles a write error.
Tried the reset button on the back
How? The reset has 3 functions. A short press is reset admin password, 5 sec (? 2 beeps) is admin password + network settings, and 8 seconds (3 beeps) is a full reset. The latter erases the flash partition and puts a new filesystem on it. This one could repair a corrupted filesystem.
All reset functions only work when the NAS is booted.

Have tried the 1 beep and the 2 beep so far and the problem persists. What would be the consequences of going for the full reset and would you recommend that as a next step?
Again, sounds normal and the lights look normal so I assume that the NAS is booted.

What would be the consequences of going for the full reset
It will delete the user settings, but not the data on disks. So you'll have to re-enter your user database, re-enable the (non-default) shares. If you are using non-default networksettings you'll have to redo them.
Further all installed packages are disabled, but not removed. So you'll have to re-enable them. I'm not sure about the database of the mySQL package.
would you recommend that as a next step?
AFAICS you don't have much choice. If you have no means of accessing the NAS, then apart from hooking up a serial connection and do some low-level observations/repairs, a factory reset is all that remains.

Thanks for the guidance Mijzelf,
I am back in after the factory reset. Not sure what triggered this but I forgot to mention that my main volume is 100% full so maybe that had something to do with it?
Either way I would appreciate it if you could clarify what the next step would be to get me back to where I was.
I only use my NAS for storing files + torrenting. Right now everything seem to be back to normal except for the fact that 2 out of my 3 volumes (I have 1 volume for each disk) are no longer visible in file browser, so I cannot access them.
Not sure what I need to do to bring them back.
