blocked by key handshake fail - Iphone 16 - IOS
Hello,
I've had three Wi-Fi access points for several years, but since upgrading to iPhone 16 (iOS), the Wi-Fi disconnects very regularly for no reason. I have the following logs:
I tried the following procedure without success, do you have any other solutions?
Sincerely
Venom

Hi @venom,
To better address this issue, could you enable Zyxel support access so we can use your configuration to reproduce this issue?

Hi @venom,
After checking the device's diagnostic file, we found that the Wi-Fi connection was connected, but your iPhone disconnected itself.
We did a local lab with the same model and IOS version, we didn't get the same result. Also, we noticed your iPhone is well connecting now.
May I know if you did any adjustment?

Hello @Zyxel_Melen
No, there's no change; the problem is completely random.
For example, at 9:30 PM now, the problem persists.
A few months ago, I tested connecting directly to my router's Wi-Fi for several days, and I had no problems.
I regularly have problems with Zyxel Wi-Fi hotspots.0 -
Hi @venom,
Thanks for the information. Regarding the logs we checked, this issue is that iPhone autonomous disconnects the Wi-Fi connection. So, the problem will be why iPhone disconnect after connecting.
Please help to clarify:
- Regards to your new update, your router supports Wi-Fi function. May I know if your network uses the same SSID for Wi-Fi roaming?
- If so, are all devices using the same security and password for the same SSID?
- Does this issue happen with other security options? Please help change to WPA2, Enhanced-open, Open for clarification.
Additionally, we found your SSID's setting doesn't enable "Assisted roaming" and "802.11r" for fast roaming. If you want to have Wi-Fi roaming, please enable these functions and ensure all AP and wireless route are using the same security option and password.

Hello,
I've run several tests:
- WPA3 with 802.11r and Assisted Roaming / without Ethernet failover => same problem
- WPA2 with 802.11r and Assisted Roaming / without Ethernet failover => the problem is no longer present since the change.
How can I fix this? I want to take advantage of the maximum security level with WPA3.0 -
Hi @venom
Thanks for your update.
May I know if the SSID on your router is the same on Zyxel APs? If so, what is its security option?
Also, we would need your help to clarify this issue on WPA3:
- Please try reset your iPhones network. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or reset your iPhone > Reset > Reset Network settings. Note: You will need to set your network setting after reset.
- Please create a new SSID with WPA 3 that is only on Zyxel AP. This helps us to identify if this issue relates to the same SSID but is a different security option between Zyxel AP and the router.
- Please help to collect the device diagnostic file after the above testings are failed.
