Dear friends,

I'm unable to put put hard discs (RAID 1) to sleep on both nsa540 and 326

My 325 model does. I have reviewed the posts on this, no MyCloud service enabled, thumbnails have been disabled and have checked that there are no devices attempting to access the shared folders.

As Mjzelf observed, I also cannot disable PHP, but there is no app relying on this.

Has anybody else experienced this, and more importantly, before I attempt factory reset, found the solution? I dont think reset is the answer.

Many thanks for any thoughts.

I have attached the small file log in case anyone is prepared to have a look.

Too short. This log mainly shows an package list update run. (Which you can disable, btw. The package lists are no longer changed)

Is there not a method to remove

    myzyxelcloud app

    permanenlty

Yes. In Tweaks there is an option to 'Disable unneeded daemons', from which the myzyxelcloud installer is one. If you have disabled the installer, you can simply uninstall myzyxelcloud.

If the disks won't sleep, something is keeping it awake by regularly accessing it. The package 'Tweaks' contains an option to log all disk activity (Disk Monitor), it might tell what that 'something' is.

Hi all and thanks Mijzelf (and for all the work you do for the community).

I have acquired a log of HDD activity after the 10 minute delay, but just don't have the knowledge to interpret what/why data is being written and how to stop it. 😳

No apps should be accessing HDDs, I cannot disable/uninstall myZyXELcloud-Agent or PHP, can't see what else is the culprit.

I have attached the small file log in case anyone is prepared to have a look.

Disks are x2 WD Red 2.0 in RAID1 and are 100% heathly.

    Thanks in advance

Hello,I have the same problem as Franklin on a NAS326.
When I uninstall the "myzyxelcloud app", the hard drives go into sleep mode after the set time
and the LEDs flash slowly.I don't use remote operations.
After a while, the “myzyxelcloud app” installs itself and
the hard drives no longer go into sleep mode.

    Hi - my findings confirm:

If myzyxelcloud app is installed I see coninual traffic recorded in firewall logs from my NAS540 to services hosted on AWS. I have no wish to see any data connection to external sites not knowingly invoked by me.

If myzyxelcloud app is uninstalled, HDDs sleep and AWS traffic stops.

Is there not a method to remove myzyxelcloud app permanenlty - I assume this is controlled somewhere in FW or loading modules as part of start-up?

Many thank again for any interest.

@Mijzelf - as ever you came through with the answer 😀

HDDs sleeping after disabling the myzyxelcloud daemon using the function in Tweaks. No chatting to AWS anymore!

    Thanks as ever. x
